Sønn av bergmester Anton Sophus Bachke (1836-1919) og Barbara Anette Karen Bachke, f. Anker (1841-1897). Han drev firmaet Bachke Maskin. Han var veldig interessert i musikk og ble en dyktig musiker. I 1920 giftet han seg med Victoria Bachke, f. de Rostin (1897-1963), senere museumsdirektør ved Ringve Musikkhistoriske Museum
